Extensive school theatre project

The brief
This extensive school theatre project involved the conversion of an existing school hall into a new facility. The new building is complete with control room, dance studio, foyer, toilets, and an extension that doubles as classrooms and changing rooms.
Specific elements of the build
Creating this modern day theatre during school term time necessitated extra health and safety procedures, particularly as the build involved installing gantry and lighting at high levels.
We stripped all internal walls of the existing building retaining the external walls only. Then we installed a large steel framework to give lateral stability to the existing external walls.
During this extensive build programme, the school continued to function as normal.
